Cracked valve cover... it's getting replaced anyway.

Shooting for twin turbos... a similar setup to the 300ZX or even 350Z with twin side mount intercoolers and independant boost systems.
Transmission is a Getrag 5-speed... going RWD in a Lanos

Yeah, the simplicity of the engine blows me away. All the vacuum lines run from the end of the intake manifold (they almost look like plug wires running out the back), and there are two oil breathers, one to each side... other than that, there are no funky connectors or anything.

It will be converted to dual MAF sensors and have the vacuum system plugged actually. I may even run a home-made intake manifold(s) depending on how much work i need to do inside. Has 35,000 miles on it, with a new crate transmission from GM (the one pictured is the auto that came with it)

There are already some parts available. Look for Omega 3.0 V6, or C30XE motor..... This motor has been in use in larger Opels for quite some time, and here we got it in the Catera (aka Omega).

This is actually the big brother to the C30XE... it's engine code is the LA3... a little different timing system than the C30XE, the newer version if you will. The displacement is 3.2L. This was found in the 2003-2004 Cadillac CTS, which was the model to replace the Catera.

Has the same bellhousing as the C30XE though...

Kenny I have a few questions for you...

1. Is this motor going to fit with no engine mount modifications?
2. I thought they only made these with Auto transmissions, where will you find the manual one?
3. Is it possible to drop this motor in and keep the car FWD?

Thanks.

But damn, it's 200hp/195lbs/ft of torque stock! That'll be insane in a small lanos! Especially turbo'ed!

1. I wouldn't think it would be a problem, the mounts between the Catera and the CTS are the same GM part number... I would think it to be the same. The engine is very similar... very very similar
2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CADILLAC ... dZViewItem They made plenty of manual transmissions for it... you have to remember this was the car that spawned the CTS-V... a Corvette with Cadillac skin.
3. In theory you should be able to drop this in and stay FWD. Dimensionally, it's the same as the C30XE and we've seen those in several FWD applications.

I'll get some more pictures this weekend.

Also, for comparison...

CTS is the 3.2L, Catera is the 3L

Funny, motor actually looks identical to 30XE. I stand corrected ;)
