Lanos 1.6 T

Post by Maximus »

So guys I have met two guys who had just opened a tuning garage, as they are new at the tuning market they have to do some kind of promotion. They want to get clients by low prices. That?s good for me. In about one month time I will be leaving them my Woo for a turbo upgrade

For 1000$ they have offered me:
- KKK K03 or Garett T3 turbo (used one with warranty)
- Intercooler (used one)
- BOV
- Coustom made exhaust manifold
- Additional fuel injectors (two of them) situated before throttle
- Coustom tubing (pipes)

I want to add some more stuff. My head gasket is leacking so I want to ?unbent? (is it written this way?) the engine by installing a thicker metal gasket (2mm or less).

Next thing will be the exhaust. A muffler is coming to me from US in one month time, it has a 2,5? inlet so I want to make the whole exhaust from 2,5? pipes with only one muffler. Do you think that 2,5? will not be to wide for about 160 hp :?:

The last thing will be some kind of fuel computer. Unichip is too expensive (1000$) SMT6 ? 500$ with tuning on the dyno. I thougt of Apexi S-AFC ? one can buy a used one for about 200$ and what?s more I can do everything myself. My aim is to make the engine run as little fuel as it is possible couse I do not want my Woo to burn fuel like a tank :? What do you guys think of Apexi for a Lanos :?:

The last thing that is worrying me is the clutch and the gearbox ? will they manage 100 hp from a 1L :?

I am thinking of sinter (is it written this way ?) for the clutch, but I heard that because of stiffer clutch the gearbox can be damaged quickly

GsiTurbo is running his stock F16 5spd transmission with about 185WHP and 245 lb ft of torque so you should be fine if you have a 5spd.

That's a relief :) but I'm afraid that the clutch will not manage :?

I was thinking that someone said the Lanos stock clutch was good past 150hp but I suppose it depends on how you use it.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to upgrade to better clutch.

Of course its better to upgrade the clutch...

my car is not a high powered one and i have a custom bronce clutch ("stage 3 like") and you can definatly FEEL the diference... its harder to drive but i can live with that.

There?s one problem guys In Poland there are two type of Lanos, with or without air con. To install a turbo on a non a/c car is not a problem, but when installing it to a car like ours (with two radiators) problems begin to appear? :? Firstly there?s little space for the turbo and manifold, but when installing a small turbo like Garret T3 there should be enough space, but hell starts when one wants to install a pipe from the turbo to the intercooler, there is no space to go through? There is no problem with the pipe to the pod filter (filter land by near the battery) there is no problem with the pipe from the throttle to the IC, but from the turbo to the IC :?:

So guys, the project has officially started. I am now collecting all necessary parts and in the beginning of next month we are starting the installation :D

At the moment I have bought a BOV from 1.8T engine, two additional fuel injectors and an underpressure gouge which we will convert in to a overpressure gouge which will activate the additional injectors.

I have already bought a boost gauge as well, it looks like this:

This weekend I am going to a "stock exchange" to buy a used intercooler. We have also decided that we will go with a KKK K03 turbo because I can pull a very little pressure as well as bigger one.
