Not Daewoo, but Kia turbo kit question

Post by TheGreatAndPowerfulOz »

I know, this isn't a Kia forum, but I don't belong to any. LOL
Is $3,000 too much for a complete, drop in, turbo kit for a '99 Kia Sephia?

Along with this turbo would, of course, be a new exhaust manifold, and exhaust system.
Shocks & springs w/camber kit would be installed, too.

This should give the Sephia a little more power and whould make my dad happier with his ride. LOL
It's funny to see a gray-haired 70yr old man squeeling tires and racing away from the stoplight.

I need to find out if the stock transmission will be able to handle that much more power. Probably a better clutch, too.

I guess I should go join a Kia forum. LOL

3k is around what I would expect to pay for ANY turbo kit, regardless of what kind of car it's going on.

But get this Oz. If you are uncertain about the tranny taking the torque, stick with the stock clutch until you can be sure. The stock clutch will light up and go long before the tranny will. It acts as a kind of fuse. It's cheaper to replace a clutch than to replace a tranny when that sport clutch sends all it can into the tranny and breaks it. That said, try to make contact with whoever developed the kit and see what they say about the matter. Good luck.

Well, this is not going to happen.
After talking with my father, he decided that he does not want to invest that much money into his Kia.

Thanks for the advice that you gave me on this fleeting idea. LOL
