Managed to get over to the shop today to check on the progress and took a few pics. Only thing wrong is that the oil feed line is about 1 foot too long so there is that extra slack. That silver box resting at the bottom of the windshield in the extra circuit they made to compensate for timing (yes it could have been smaller, but they are using part of a standalone they have already designed). So that has to be hooked up tomorrow, then hopefully dyno/tune on thursday. Let me know what you guys think!
Well it can be "driven" right now (the guy has already had it running for 15+ mins to check the timing signals and drove around the block few times to check for leaks or anything strange). Last night at the shop I started it up to hear how it sounds, I like it, its quieter. So you can drive it right now as long as you don't hit boost or else BOOM. lol
the valve cover vent dont put it back into the air intake or put a catch can
your charge pipe, compressor housing, intercooler and intake manifold will get dirty
with all the oil comming out of the valve cover
and that makes you loose power
Ya I know about that issue and I've been thinking about getting a catch can. Couldn't I just make one on my own? I know the concept and what its supposed to do. Or is there a compelling reason to buy an aftermarket one?
Called the shop............. the main guys aren't in yet, but the one who was there said he knows they were working quite late last night and that my car is sitting on the dyno right now. I'm going to call back when they get in. ohhhh the anticipation......
I don't think so, they don't have a video camera..... I'm heading over there this evening hopefully I'll get to see some of the action and bring it to the Daewootech forums via video lol.
hi guys.i had a quick question and this was the only active turbo discussion i seen with posts within the last few days.i hope you don't mind.
my question is:i'm installing e-manage in my aveo in the morning getting ready for turbo.but i'm stummped on the "rotary switch" settings.could anyone help me out? or point me in the right direction, any info would be helpful.
I picked up the car tonight.....some good news and some bad. Good news is that they get everything communicating properly and are able to adjust what they need. Bad news is they maxed out the injectors.
While tuning on the dyno, they found the injectors maxed out around 4k at WOT then it started going lean. A/F was great up until that point. Power was somewhere in the range of 145ish at the wheels, but they had to stop. They said it maxes out just as it started to pull hard lol. So they gave me the car back temporarily to drive around but removed the BOV and left the base turbo tune on. Still gives a cool spooling sound and tonight with the cold air I think i was hitting 2-3lbs of boost, even with the BOV off because I could definitely feel it pull alot harder than before (i don't have the boost gauge yet). The turbo starts to spool at about 2800 or so, then comes on hard and seems to reach full boost by 3500 - 4000. I still had alot of fun driving it around tonight on only 2lbs lol
So now my search begins for larger injectors, they recommend somewhere in the rage 35 - 40 lbs (320 - 420 CC i think)
Who knows where I can get injectors in this range for the Optra and how much do they cost ............... and I need them ASAP lol?
