F28 Complete

Post by exist3nce »

Finally done!! The car is on the road and driving as of last night :D The speedo is off, but using GPS is appears to be reading in miles somehow now. My dash is in KMs but the needle indicates the speed in miles LOL. The shift linkage bolted right in with a little bit of adjustment on the rod coming into the engine bay. The clutch also works exactly as expected and is ALOT more drivable than the ceramic one. So far so good. Got quite a few km's of break-in now before I can really push it.

Here is the custom mount:

And with it in the car....

Yes the clutch is ALOT (like REALLY ALOT) softer than the other one I had. At first when the car was on the jackstands, we thought the slave was not working because the peddle was so soft compared to the old one. Its been such a long time since a stock clutch, I can't really compare with that.

Stock axles popped right in.

6th Gear is sweet....... 100km/h highway speed I'm around 2600-2700rpm.

+1100. I'd love to see how well the engine holds up. I really don't want to bother with my internals if I don't have to.

We'll see about topping it out, with the current laws around here that is a very risky business (you can loose your car). Using an online calculator I should be able to do 264km/h with my stock 15" rims.

Speaking of that...... what you are shipping me.... it still hasn't arrived yet....... any idea on whats the status?

Quick question......... where is the fill hole and drain hole for the gearbox? Is that a fill in the shot taken from the driver's side wheel well?

Can't remember where the drain plug is, but here's where the fill hole is.

Sometimes, it'll have a small black or creamy coloured cap ontop of the bolt. But seeing as that's yours gearbox in the pic, i dont think yours does :)

Thanks man, found it. Just wanted to top it up. I think I might do another fluid change just to get all the old stuff out..... The old mtf was brown coloured and this new stuff I put in is red and smells quite a bit different, also fairly thin consistency. I hope I've got the right fluid....

Also I've noticed a very slight gear chattering (or maybe bearing?) noise on deceleration while in engaged in gear. Its most apparent around 3-4k rpm.

Any ideas?

That is what the tranny can do taking in account FDR, 6th gear ratio, tire diameter and redline.
