Ring gap

Post by wolfhound »

When my first attemp at turbo charging the Lanos resulted in severly smashed pistons, the local machine shop said a turbo engine needs a bigger ring gap. say 0.6mm to 1mm.

Last month I ordered a set of Wiseco 79.5mm 8.8 pistons from IPP in the states and they are apparently due to arrive before the end of Jan.

I was just wondering, has anyone got any idea of whether the story on a bigger ring gap on the Turbo motor is true ? I would hat to bugger up a set of these dam expensive (In african money) pistons.

1. this piston looks like have to high EGT.....
2. if you ordered pistons with rings they should have proper gap
3. you should get also note with gaps for pistons, ring, etc.
4. you can always buy Gapless rings.... ;)
