Well, first of all, check for the following:

- ensure the external wastegate and its actuator are not seized (you should be able to open it by hand with the actutator still in place)
- check for vertical shaft movement. A little, "needle" amount of play is OK as the shaft is riding on a film of compressed oil, but under no circumstances, should any of the wheels touch the housing
- check both the compressor and the turbine wheels for damage (mechanical)

www.turbocity.com can set you up with a rebuild kit. I got mine for the first turbo, and after some modifications it worked just fine. Make sure to tell them where the turbo came from

Establish reference points of the wheels towards each other. They will need to be re-alinged after rebuld, as they are dynamically balanced. If there is quite of carbon build-up on the turbine (hot side) wheel, leave it in the Easy-Off stove cleaner overnight. Then, brush with soft wire brush.

Check the cast for excessive cracks. Anythining more than a hairline about 3" long is a no-no.

Oh, and the bolt on the compressor wheel...its a counterclock-wise thread, so you unscrew it clowise.

Hope this should help.

Tom

T25 is a Garrett turbocharger not a Mitsubishi.

blow off valves are open when there is vacum and closed when there is boost.. so if you rev you engine and let off the gas it will open no matter if you are standing still or rolling

what car is this turbo going on?

Tom is selling turbo manifolds for Lanos, with the adaptor, I'm sure it'll work.
