99' Leganza Cone Filter and CAI

Post by teteous1 »

Hey all, I'm planning on putting my cone filter down in the quarter panel next to the air box and removing the box in that panel.
I was planning on taking out the panel filter and just running the cone to the bottom of the stock air box via some piping into the quarter panel.
I was then going to use some more piping to to make a CAI to the cone. Is there anything that could be a problem with this? (I am putting it there as in my state you have to have a pod fully boxed and secured so hiding it is easier :) )

I attached the cone to the bottom of the stock fabric/rubber hose and it is hanging where the resonator used to be.

My question is where should I put the piping for the CAI?

i don't see a problem... but i prefer that you extend the piping from the TB through the hole underneath the air box and put the filter behind the bumper... something like this setup:

I have the filter there atm, but I was wanting to keep the stock appearance from the airbox where the air runs through atm.

Would there be any advantage of putting a pipe through the stock airbox to connect the other pipes?

Also, should I remove the resonator near the TB?

i did something similar back in the old days to keep the OEM look on dad's car as he would have objected to changing any OEM setup on the car

i have used an old OEM filter and removed the cleaning element, removed resonator and installed a short PVC pipe and put the cone filter at the end:

the performance was enhanced, car got louder and the OEM look was intact... i now have full CAI setup and it gave better performance and sound as well

Thanks,

atm mine is just attached to the stock fabric/rubber pipe off the airbox. should i put a pipe through the middle of the box to connect the pipes? (See below)

Also, what is the purpose of these? Just to reduce noise? Would it affect the engine if i blocked them off? (See below)

Yeah, just noise as the leganza doesn't have one in the guard

I had to take a massive resonator out of the guard haha! Guess it must have two?

Ill block those off tomoz, i reckon it will sound beastly without them, cos just with the cone atm its got a deeper sound to it.

Thanks.
