so if you screw in the opel temp sensor, it works?

also you need the opel clutch and flywheel to get the gearbox to fit right?

so hopefully the swap will be done by the end of the year when i go on my break

15 hour roundtrip to pick it up?!!? You'll have some serious miles to check it out on the way home? Hope it's reliable?

Strut brace came today, it looks awesome :D

Leganza tomorrow and it seems to be better than I thought.

It's owned by a mechanic who owns 5 Daewoos! And the timing belt was only done 10000Km ago :D

I just wish I wasn't so busy with uni though... I just want to modify!! lol

I got the leganza home on Sunday, such a long weekend just full of driving.

But it was worth it. The leganza, for how heavy it is, is a seriously zippy car. I can't imagine how my lanos will go with that engine and CR gearbox
The leggy is rough around the edges (which is why i got it cheaply i guess) but the motor seems well looked after. Only thing was that the temp gauge doesn't work so I was worrying the whole way back, but it was fine, no boiling at all!

One thing I did notice was that it bogged down in first and second gears when driving from a stop. I was wondering if this was not normal or if it's just my driving style or not being used to the car. I guess I'm just used to the low down torque of my lanos and the clutch engagement.

One thing i was worrying about a lot was the immobiliser... the leggy, contrary to what i though, doesn't have one!!! :D This will make it so much easier, as the only option i could think of before is swapping out the ignition barrel and using 2 sets of keys which would have been a pain.

I can't wait to do this swap :D it should be happening during november 8)

I need some info from anyone that's done a 2.0/2.2 into lanos etc.

What is the belt layout with the A/C gone and the power steering pump on the A/C mount (Garrett's bracket)?
Does it go:

.......Alt--------\
.........\..........\
..........\ ..........\ Mount (ex A/C)
...........\...........\
............\...........\
...........Crank pull ---- PAS

(rough drawing I know lol)

Image

If anyone has a picture that would be great.

Also, do you need a shorter belt?

The swap starts next week and I just realised this...

edit: dots to retain format...
edit 2: better picture...

loose both A/C and powersteering...

Go on a scrap jard and buy electrical power steering pump from zafira, astra-g,h, etc... You can put it anywhere (I have put it just next to window washer water tank) and just connect it to powersteering column.. ;)

And you could than buy engine mount from kaddet-E gsi/2.0, and it would bolt on lanos... Like this...

I already have the the brackets and mounts so that's not an option

i just want to know the belt layout... lol

does anyone know what the sensor on the front of the D20 is?
it's not listed in my manual, it looks like a gearbox temp sensor

edit: found it, it's the backup lamp switch

re: the ACC belt

maybe the layout is more like this:

if anyone knows, please feel free to chime in

what i'm thinking about is needing maximum contact with the crankshaft pulley

Garrett, if you know please tell me (you have a PM too)

hey mate, sorry I haven't had a chance to read you posts for a while. you are correct about the belt layout in your first picture. I'll still try to get you that length of the belt. if you get that far before hearing from me you can mock everything up, measure the length and any parts shore can get the length sorted. all accessories belts are listed by length. this is what I would be doing to figure the length as well.

mr. q mentioned getting the bracket from a Kadett E/ astra MK2. the bracket you have there is designed exactly after that bracket. there is one thing I just discovered over the weekend. the front motor mount (between that bracket and chassis) on the 1.6 models is different than the 2.0 models. they look the same but the 1.6 mount is .25" (about 7mm) shorter than the 2.0 mount. it's kinda hard to discribe so I'll post pics tomorrow. the fix is either that you buy a motor mount for the 2.0 Kadett E/Astra MK2/Lemans GSE OR you simply add a .25" thick spacer between the engine bracket and the motor mount, through the two bolt holes.

this thing sounds like it's coming together well!

Cheers.
