UPDATE...

Post by biondi »

I have changed map sensor (to 2.5bar sensor) and adjusting AFR with S-AFC.
However... it is difficult to catch it.
Anyway, I checked dyno numbers again.
AFR was dancing....

Image

Max Boost = 1.5bar(21.76psi)
Max Power = 222.84ps, Max Torque = 26.80kgm
(stock 1500cc engine, modified stock automatic transmission.)

Nice work man, that glowing manifold looks sweet. I'm not sure if your 1.5L motor uses the same (or similar) engine management, but with my Optra the stock ECU always relies heavily on the O2 sensor. It always tries to keep the AFR at 14.5 even at full throttle, even when we add lots of fuel through the Emanage. Ofcourse that is way too lean for boost. We had to use a boost triggered O2 simulator to trick the ECU into thinking the AFR is 14.5 under boost so it doesn't try to pull out all the fuel.

2002 IS300 5MT - 615whp - AEM EMS - GT4088R - Built 9.5CR - R154 - TRD LSD - SupraTT T/B - Varex - LS430 Retrofit

My lacetti is 2003 initial model and it uses Siemens Sirius-D4 ECU.
And it tries to keep 14.7:1 when closed-loop condition relies on O2 sensor, but when open-loop(under full trrottle or some conditions),
it will inject fuel in accordance with pre-set fuel map. And ECU remapping is adjusting pre-set fuel map under open-loop condition.

Meantime, I know that Gready E-mange has 2 extra injector line which can be fully controlled by, user independent of stock ECU.
So, user can devide the 2 lines to 4 and connect to each injector and then, user can adjust AFR with E-manage software fuel map.
Also auto AFR function is available if wideband O2 sensor connected.
I know you have Innovate LC-1, why don't you try this?

I would like to use E-manage, but it is too expensive to import, besides current exchange rate is very high...
And I cannot sure it works with my car without problem....

Today, I fixed AFR competely.
It keeps AFR 11~12:1 at full boosting 1.3~1.5bar.

The problem was MAP sensor atmospheric pressure value.
ECU judges atmospheric pressure value when key on before starting the engine.
And controls AFR with MAP sensor voltage & O2 sensor value.

In case of stock MAP sensor, return 4.2V~4.6V when key on and ECU judges this to 1atm(=760mmhg=1.013bar).
ECU controls AFR with this voltage value, but this is comparative value, not absolute voltage value.

If using 2.5bar MAP senor, initial atmospheric pressure value is 1.8V, and ECU judges 1.8V is 1atm.
So, if MAP Sennsor voltage exceed initial atmospheric pressure value, ECU operates injectors fully opened. => very rich...
And then... ECU shifts the atmospheric pressure value to a new value, something boosted pressure value.
After then, idling becomes very unstable(=> Idling AFR is very lean, continuos adjusting fuel with O2 sensor value),
overall AFR will be swerved (as shown in above my dyno graph).

In order to fix it, it needs to supply about 4.5V to ECU when key on and cut it off and return MAP sensor value to ECU just after starting the engine.

I have fixed it as follows...

1. Connect a 12V relay to Engine oil pressure lamp(you can find it in a bunch of instrument lines, + line from IG1, - line from engine oil pressure switch)
=> the lamp is turned on when key on and off just after starting engine.
2. Connect a line to MAP sensor power(5V) with 0.6V diode to relay-switched terminal, and connect another terminal to MAP sensor signal line.
3. I could read MAP sensor voltage value 4V when key on.
4. Ajdusting fuel maps.

this is so awesome, i have a aveo (kalos) with a 1.6L, you my friend give me hope.

how come you desided to use automatic transmission over a manual?
what exacly did you do to the stock auto to make it stronger?

It is a product of Maintech who is one of exaust parts maker in Korea.
And the quality is the best. ^^

It was done by a A/T tuner in Korea.
I don't know exact work but just know that they have added some more disks to each gear clutch.
Also, 4th clutch and hub is completely redesigned in order to use larger disks.
I could checked it bears 220HP, 26kgm without any trouble.

And I cannot give up the convenience of A/T. :D
