Take a look at the markings of the cylinders and coil sockets in the
pic that matches your engine.
1.5 SOHC
1.6 DOHC
Please note that the 1.4 & 1.8 & 2.0 SOHC layout is similar to the 1.5 SOHC and the 1.5 DOHC & 2.2 DOHC & 2.0 DOHC layout is similar to the 1.6 DOHC.
The spark plug cables assignment is:
Cylinder 1 in coil socket A
Cylinder 2 in coil socket C
Cylinder 3 in coil socket D
Cylinder 4 in coil socket B
It is the same assignment for all engines (1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 2.0 and 2.2).
also note that due to the fact that out ignition system uses a waste spark; you can switch wires on the same half of the coil... in other words you can swap the cables for cyl. 1&4 and/or 2&3 and the engine will run perfectly.
