Hey Jeff.... thinking about rebuilding??
You could drop a 2.0L in there without much of a problem.... you will probably have a hard time finding a 2.2L in good condition.
You should be able to find a 2.0L with about 75K miles for around $750 USD.
The 2.2L tend to be much higher.... probably around $1200 USD and since there are less of them you might have a hard time getting one in good condition with low mileage.
The 2.0L and 2.2L use the same head and the block has identical mounting holes to that of the 2.0L
The 2.2L has a totally different crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons.... and the total height of the block is 1cm taller than the 2.0L
Basicly you will need the block and cylinder head to get things going.
All the accessories and brackets from the 2.2L should bolt right onto the 2.0L without any issues.
I'm still interested in your car but the 2800 miles between us is the biggest problem.

Wow that's cheap.... too bad he won't ship it.
I have to wonder about the whole "comes with new timing belt" thing.... most autowreckers don't take the time to do something like this unless there is a major problem (such as a broken belt )
I wouldn't be surprized if it had some damaged valves.... it's so cheap that it's scary..... why would he sell it so cheap???
If he's an autowrecker he should have access to current pricing via a parts network..... so he should know that $1200 is an average price.

Hmmmm.... I noticed that his feedback is "private" which means that you can't see what anyone has said.
I'm allways a little worried about people like this.... but for $180 it's a hell of a deal and it's probably worth the risk.
I suppose someone could fly there, pick it up in a rental truck, drive it to a transport company and have it shipped home.
