i call i borrowing lol, cause the car will end up sooner or later on the junk yard
Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
either way, they'll end up in my hands for the price of ziltsch!

Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
if you are going to get injector for nonthing get me some too...i think i need the 1.8 one as the 1.6 one people said did have the high end performace the a 1.6 engine needed....
Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
well i should be going over to a big free-walking help-yourself scrappy in the next 2 weeks or so, and i'll definitely keep a look out for injectors of all sorts, but mainly from the 2.0 lumps. i'll let u know what i find.
might see if i can find an old saab turbo, and see if they have similar map sensors, cos technically they should have either the 2 or 3 bar gm map sensor.
little update on how the car's running... ive got severe clutch slip. so i have to change gears realy slowly, and early so i dont change into the powerband between max torque and top end power - otherwise the clutch slips for about 2 or 3 seconds grabbing 2nd, 3rd and 4th if i change gears properly - it seems to like 1st and 5th gear though... lol

Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
looks like it could be a good fit, and it looks small enough to be matched well to a small engine. might kill it a bit at top end (cos u've got the 1.6 16v) but bottom and mid range torque will be a lot better.Big Jeff wrote:cool
what do you think of this...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/turbo_W0QQitemZ13 ... |294%3A200
all that really needs is a good clean up. the one i got had a similar amount of rust on it, just use a steel wire brush or a steel wire rotary brush on the end of a drill to get rid of most of the rust.

turns out i'm not the only person in the world called Rudi to own a turbo lanos... http://www.drifting.com/forums/drifting ... aewoo.html

Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
well, its time to move on...
the turbo conversion on the 1300 8v lump seems to have given it a hell of a hike in mid range torque (which managed to burn the clutch out at 70mph after grabbing the wrong gear) but top end power isnt all there.
i'm going away on holiday tomorow morning for 2 weeks... when i get back work's gonna start on doing the conversion back to non-turbo and replacing the clutch... and then get it ready for the next project.
... throttle bodies, port matching, port polishing and maybe a head skim - this i reckon would get me the same amount of power as i'm getting with a turbo without having to replace pistons, conrods etc.
i did also consider a redtop drop (c20xe), but might aswell run the 1.3 to the ground before i get rid of it - so a bigger engine will be dropped in, in the future.
as for the rest of the car, probably gonna strip out some of the interior and make a rear strutbrace and maybe add in other chassis stiffening braces to make it feel a bit more lively.
a lot of people will be asking and already have been asking why i'm jumping between ideas/projects as to what to do with my car... but there is method behind my madness.
this lanos is my first car, and i'm using it to learn as much as possible before spending stupid amounts on money and time on a properly powerful car.
think about it, by the time my 'woo heads for the pearly gates in the sky i'll have a wealth of knowledge about how to do most things to a car as far as performance aspects go, so one day i can buy a car as a project, throw in everything i know and hopefully build a helluva fast motor that'll be fast in straight lines and around corners.
the turbo's been fun while it lasted, but i personally think turbocharging is a bit over-rated unless u can run stupid boost like Nubaroo has in his nubi - a bit of advice for other people wanting to go turbo... aim to boost at least 1 bar!!! then you'll notice the difference.
obviously, this means i might have a few things for sale (turbo parts), so if anyone's intrested let me know.

Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
update: clutch is completely gone (but still driveable on light throttle below 3000rpm)... any recommendations on a stronger clutch anyone?
update, again: got a ADL Blueprint clutch kit with an Exedy clutch disc.
update: still havnt got the clutch in. ive given up with trying to make a high performance motor using the 1349 8v lump. one day (when ive finished university) i'll do a turbo again, but on a 2.0 or 2.2 leggy engine.

new audio project
as the post title says...
cant really see the numbers on the tape measure, but those are 8" sub woofers/ mid bass drivers. and there are 8 of them.
doesn't say it on the back, but these can handle 100 Wrms each.
more stuff on the way... 1 farad capacitor, 1600 Wmax amplifier.
along with this I also have a 200w 8" subwoofer as well as a 250w 12" woofer.
some of the wharfedales will be used as normal speakers/mids as they can hit some pretty high notes for what they are, and the rest will aid the other 8" woofer for high bass frequencies, followed by the 12" for the lower bass frequencies.
additional amplifiers i have are a 600w 2 channel, 200w mono-block and can get hold of a 500w 2 channel if needed.
no idea yet as to how i'm gonna squeeze all this into the back of the lanos, might have to lose the rear seats, but gonna try and keep everything in the boot. tomorow when my hangover's gone i'll start making cardboard templates to get an idea as to what its all gonna look like.

Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
sealed tester box... having approx 0.35 cu.ft per speaker... but it's all in one single compartment... hasnt cost me anything to build as its all from scrap wood. but it'll give me an idea of how it'll sound in a sealed box... might play around with adding a port eventually.
anyway, these are 4 of the 8 8" speakers...
note the box is carpeted/covered/finished yet as its a testing box. the wood just happened to have some white vinyl already on it.

Re: rodd1s' Lanos [updates on first post]
a few updates:
cut the hole in the front bumper bigger where the intercooler used to be, just so it doesnt look so much like theres something missing.
replaced the 2" bosal backbox with a 3" sportex straight-cut exhaust backbox.
removed the rear wiper.
got a 15" 500wrms dual 2ohm woofer in a 4.8cu-ft (before displacement) box with a 3.5x5x9 in port.
powered by a 800wrms (@ 1ohm) amplifier
removed the bonnet raisers (as they no longer serve much of a purpose without the turbo)
