can you put the 1.6 head on a 2L to up compression. I know that you can put rb26 heads on rb30et's and 186 heads on holden 202's and the like, but can it be done with the 1.6 head?

woo..

Nope... the 1.5-1.6 engines are smaller than the 1.8-2.2 engines...

1.5-1.6 are called "small block"
1.8-2.2 are called "big block"

i didnt know this until i tried to do that... compared both headgaskets to notice the diferrence in size...

Yes.... many of the parts are compatable ( I had a 2001 Lanos Hatchback with a 1.5L )

The only thing is that the 1.5L is a SOHC versus the DOHC in the 1.6L.

I was considering putting the 1.6L head onto my 1.5L engine prior to the idea of doing a 2.0L swap.

( I sold the car to a friend and purchased my Optra 5 the same day)
