'98 1.6 dohc Nubira wagon, violent shuddering.

Post by Wang »

My wagon has a fault which no one in Australian can solve.

When cruising at any speed when the engine is up to temperature, when the load is taken off the engine slightly, such as over the crest of a rise, the car shudders violently. the CEL comes on for a while then goes off, the temperature guage only reachs a quarter up.

The car has had remanufactured head, injectors cleaned, fuel pressure and pump checked, new O2 sensor, exhaust manifold, ht leads, timing belt, plugs, fuel filter.
No one in Victoria has the correct software to reboot a '98 Woo as there are no longer any dealers in Oz.

What can I do with my Woo?

Hi,
Are your engine mounts OK? There is a post on this forum about checking them but I can't actually find it.
Can you simulate this shuddering by actuating throttle from under the hood directly on the accelerator cable?

Since your CEL was on try to read the error code. If your '98 Nubira has ALDL connector just use the "paper clip" method to get the code. If it is a true OBD2 (stated somewhere under hood or near diagnostic connector) then you need a code reader. Try to post a pic of your diag connector.
