Anyone ever installed Apexi SAFC on there Daewoo ??

Post by Andrew21 »

Just curious has anyone ever tried installed a piggyback Apexi SAFC Air/Fuel computer on there Daewoo/Lanos ??

I used to have one on a Nissan Pulsar SSS and it helped...

All it basically does is alter the Air/Fuel to the ECU...

Just trying to get the maximum power from my 1.6DOHC without spending big $$$..

You can pick them up second hand for around $100US and cost around $100US to dyno tune...

Do you think it would be worth it ? I was thinking to remove the VGIS and retune the fuel/air intake via this controller?

PrecisionBoost did have SAFC II on his Optra (Daewoo Lacetti), and he managed to pull a whopping 0.5hp gains on a dyno.... I would not say its worth spending money.....

i recon you only need such gadgets if you are going to heavly mod your engine or use forced induction... stock engines got very little to improve on.

my 2 cents.

Ok...Well in terms of what initial modifactions that could be done to improve performance without spending too much money would be the following;

For the basic mods totalling under $600US would be :

1. 4-2-1 Custom exhuast headers with 2" Exhaust exhaust from cat back+ Sports muffler
2. CAI Pod Filter setup

Thats it really ? ( Besides the standard tune up of good Oil+Plugs)

The other options of Clutch,Flywheel,Cams,Cam Gears, ECU's e.t.c can get quiet expensive and not to mention hard to find for Daewoo's....

Something i heard from a friend, which i must note is illegial in some countries.

Smashing out the Cat converter ( effectively removing it ) increases the performance on our daewoo's considerably...

Is it also true that we have two cats on our cars ( Lanos 1.6ltrDOHC) ? 1 on the exahust manifold and one on the exhaust pipe itself? I read this on a forum awhile ago?

ya thats right in some countries, in Egypt it doesnt matter, i removed the CAT and got a header and 2" pipe and a sport middle filter and a sport muffler and the difference is HUGE and so noticable
>2004 Nubira, 1.6L (Manual Transmission)
>Custom made cold air intake
>Custom made headers & 2" pipe with mid Walker filter and rear Jasma-5Ziegen muffler
>Custom made intake manifold with 2.0L TB and larger injectors (soon to be done)
