I have a lanos, so not sure if you can remove and install your starter like I did mine.
Someone will add to this i hope.
Anyway, I pulled the battery and its tray out than tied up and away any hoses and electric lines.
As I recall ? The overflow hose on the coolant resevore will come off too and give you even more room..
You get the idea ?
Make as much space as you can so you can get at your starter from the top and left side (as viewed from driver seat) of your car.
It's possiable to do it this way.
I know, I did it and didn't have to go under the car.
Unless you have very huge hands it can be done.
Just take a deep breath, have the right wrenches and go for it.
Again, your engine-bay may not have the room the Lanos does.
Also, here is a link to a company that has good prices on starters, rebuild kit's etc..( call or e-mail them for what you need. )

Good luck,
