Help me swap my engine

Help me swap my engine

My new engine came a few days late. The truck broke down but it made it.

I dove into removing the broken one. I have made some progress but have slowed considerably.
Can you offer any advice on my engine swap?
I have most everything removed from the old engine (broken timing belt), the new (used) engine is sitting in the garage waiting to go in. I am confused on the "center" unit. This is the black metal beam that runs from the front of the car to back side of the engine compartment. In my directions it says to remove it. Do I have to take this out. The front bolts are out but the rear ones look like there is an engine or trans mount attached.

Also, the directions I have says to take off the oil pan.?? Am I reading this right?

Most of my bell housing bolts are out. Do I have to unbolt the torque converter before taking out the engine? Any help would be very appreciated.

I am very weary. I am sort of sorry I got started.

You must not have a Lanos?.. The Lanos does not have that center bar.
If you put your car model and year in your signature ? You may get some more responses in this thread.

i didn't get what you mean by "center bar"?? what car and what engine? got engine bay pics??

Woops- here is the information. My car is a 2001 Leganza. The engine is a 2.2.

There is a beam that runs from the firewall along the bottom of the car up to just under the radiator. It is held on with 4 bolts. I have removed the front two. This beam has two engine mounts on it. I have removed the front most one. The rear one looks like it is on the trans.

Update!
Engine is out. It is amazing what a little rest can do for you. Moral of the story —set small achievable goals. Don't try to do it all in the same day. The center beam did not need to be removed after all. I did need to remove the alternator though, the pulley was hitting the side of the engine bay.

Thank you for your advice— I am sure I will need more of it.

Next, I have to change the belt on the new (27,000 miles) engine. By the way, does anyone know if there is a way to know how many miles are on my engine. I got it from Thoroughbred Auto from New York. Strangely, the engine got shipped from Minnesota. It was only $950 plus shipping. I had quotes for other engine with twice the 5x the miles for almost twice the $$.

Finally, with this engine do I need to change the pulleys along with the timing belt? If so, does anyone have a good source, part numbers etc.
