if thats the case then you will be deaf at the first engine warmup.

don't do this as you will really hurt your ears before you annoy other people with the sound plus such exhaust systems got very low resistance and will end up reducing your back pressure dramatically and you will lose low end torque so you spent time and money to make something that will hurt you and other people and make your car slower.

long story made short: the worst idea in the history of bad ideas.

if you just replace the muffler it will leave you with a nice deep tone sound thats not to loud unless your heavy on the pedal. And about the skunk 2 muffler i suggest going with a cheaper one. Cause you will scrape it, dent it, it will rust a little and a whole lot of other stuff. My first muffler was a 5zigen and i had to replace it after about a year cause of all the rust from where i scraped it. Now im stuck with a crap one that i baught for like 5 bucks at a junk yard (wich sounds 10 times better). Go to www.x3racing.com and look there for one. You will be ALOT better off paying $100 rather than $300 trust me :smt040 :smt045

well i got a really deep note out of my old woo with a custom 2.25" catback exhuast with a flowmaster muffler. don't remember which kind of flowmaster but if you cut the tip off or just not have a folgers coffee can added to it, it should make you happy. you can actually just go with a 2inch piping thats more ideal for the lanos.

my geo metro actually did have a folgers coffee can exhaust tip, it was all really small staight pipe and the stock resonator (no cat or actual muffler) you could hear me from almost a half mile away, it was funny as hell

I don't think you'll have room for the twin-loop. If that's your intention... measure and watch for suspension clearance.

If you get an aftermarket exhaust... please for the love of goodness... LEAVE THE RESONATOR. If you get a straight pipe from the cat back to the muffler it is too loud and torque suffers... severely. Replacing the muffler with a cannon or straight through offers the best sound and performance, all things considered. If you intend on making your car LOUD and really hopping it up, I can see a full system with only 1 sound suppressant (muffler/resonator), but otherwise, I wouldn't go there (again  ).

I like the twin loop, but the clearance worries me.

I have a 2.5" stainless exhaust with a stainless Maganflow muffler.... if you look in one side.... you can see out the other..... no resonator.

I'm in need of another sound suppresor in a bad way (really loud ) so ..... I guess I'm going to have to be forced to put on a turbo to drop the exhaust note

Yes.... that's right.... a turbo is a restriction.... and it will decrease the sound levels by a very significant amount.

My turbo Lemans is super quiet.... and it has no resonator.... just a nearly straight through muffler.

So.... if your looking for a nice sound...... install a turbo in your Lanos.... guaranteed to sound quiet at idle and let loose at full throttle ;)

It would have been turboed six months ago but the cast 16V manifold won't accomidate the huge ass TO4E compressor I picked up. :(

I recently made a flange to go from a T3 to a T28.... and I angled it to push the turbo away from the block..... so I'm looking around at the GT28RS for the Optra and I have an 8V manifold coming in (hopefully this week ) to fit my T3/T04E hybrid onto my Lemans.... The stock T25 just doesn't cut it over 10PSI of boost.
