Does a Lanos have a Knock sensor?

Post by Turtle_Wax »

Does anyone know if the 8v sohc Lanos has a knock sensor, and if so where about is it located? I've noticed a bit of pinking from the engine under heavy load conditions and I was wondering if it could be this sensor.

i have yet to see a sohc ecotec but if it's like the early models it would be on the right side of the motor, the side facing the firewall. it would be threaded into and unused mount in the middle of the block, if it was one.

Thanks for that. I think the problem was low quality fuel I used at the supermarket. I filled up the tank at a different Esso station and the pinking sound went away. I have also added some fuel treatment in the tank.
