lanos engine problems

Post by ooobiserooo »

I have a realy confusing problem.

Lanos 1.4 se 98
177000km
all stock + k&n

i have a ugly claping noise coming form centar of the engine. U can hear it best after presing the clutch
(sounds like rattlesnake) and the noise goes harder with the temperature going higher.

changes made to remove that problem
new cam shaft
new hydro lifters
new sparkplugs+sparks
harder and softer oil+filter
gas lines cleaned
valve checked ok!

there are some cam shaft followers comming on the hydrolifters. can this be the problem?
i have talked to 4-6 mechanics and this become a realy big mistery.

thnx advance

   that is not healthy at all

are you sure the work on th head was done correctly? it sounds like a problem with the valve lifting mechanism.

only time my car did a similar sound was when i had my head gasket removed... this sound came out due to the fact that the hydro lifters got no oil whatsoever during startup but it went ayay in a matter of a mineut or two.

recheck lifters and make sure they are not clogged or dirty and all.

The sound horible :(

And yes :( this week i will make a third visit to mech. I am 100% that work is done good! "he is yust that type of person"
The old lifters had a BADDDD damage, and also the shaft had a 1mm damage :(
But now that is new and all is the same!
Today im going to buy 4 of this followers for tha lifters and replace the damaged ones!

I reallllllly hope that this is the problem cuz if not i dont know what else can be!

the funny part is that the noise is 100% lower when the morning is cold  but this is stupid cuz we used 15-40 insted of 10-40 and still no difference.
