2000 Nubira 2.0L, how to set timing?

Post by Jerry Jarreau »

I have a friend working on my car for me and he wants to make sure of how to set the timing, specifically, how to line up the marks (there seems to be an extra mark). Any info or links to info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Jerry

You may want to download the Leganza service manual at http://www.daewooclub.com/viewtopic.php ... a&start=15 and look at 2.0L engine.
It seems that the two camgears are identical with two positionning holes (intake/exhaust) and two marks (long:intake, short:exhaust).
I've never worked on this engine so take this without any warranty.
Anyway when all seems ok turn engine by hand for 2 full turns to be sure nothing collide.

when i first did my leggy i was also bemused by this.
firstly if you removed the rocker cover set it back in place, as you look at it from the cam gear end the left hand mark on the cover refers to the inlet so use the line on the cam gear that has inlet stamped beside it (on the inner rim i think), therefor set the right hand side for the mark that has exaust stamped on that rim. this is because both camgears are interchangeable.
as m mamdouh says rotate the bottom pully two full turns when the any tensioning is done and recheck the alinemint marks and reset if nessary.
