Spark Plug Wire Set

Post by chris58950 »

Does anyone know where I can find spark plug wires for my 99 Leganza? I found some OEM ones for $100, and some aftermarket ones for about $160. Any suggestions? Thanks

I need spark plug wires, too, but have not wanted to pay $100 for 4 wires.
That price is a little excessive.

MSD sells a universal kit allowing you to setup your own custom-lenght wires. They are 8.5mm and in canada retail for about $70 - its really good stuff!! I am using them and I am very happy.

i was ganna say just make some, its actaully cheaper to get te 25' bulk wire and use the old connectors if they are still good, i have to get all new connectors ans soon as my new coils come in.. seems like its taking forever..

Magnecor

Post by buzzedtop »

Hey Guys,

I use Mangecor 8mm wires in my Lanos (1.6) and i've been extremely happy with them. Daewoo stock plug wires are basically garbage. The dealer replaced my plug wires 2 times and both times the wires shorted out after less than 2000 miles. Can you say recall?

I was ready to give up on my car until I found Magnecor wires. More power, no more stalls, and no more "bogging" down. Unfortunately, these wires aren't for those of you with small pocketbooks. I've retyped a price list below.

http://www.magnecor.com

Lanos 1.6 engine (ALL in USA)
8.5mm wires: 92.37
8mm wires: 71.72
7mm wires: 70.11

Lanos 1.5 engine (Canada and elsewhere)
8.5mm wires: 78.18
8mm wires: 50.33
7mm wires: 51.63

Leganza, Nubira (ALL in USA)
8.5mm wires: 190.99
8mm wires: 145.18
7mm wires: 146.45

If you use these wires, you'll need to remove the little plastic 'retainer' clip for the stock wires. The Magnecor wires have a larger diameter and won't fit in the stock clip. I just removed mine.

I also have the magnacor wires, I got the 8.5mm red ones and pretty happy with them.

Here are mine after a good cleaning. I know my engine bay is dismal. I need to start cleaning now that the weather is getting better.

Aftermarket spark plug wires (and spark plugs) can increase power. However, you generally won't get a significant boost in power unless your original plugs and wires are crap to begin with.

My recommendation: If you have stock Daewoo wires, replace them immediately. Buy a good set of aftermarket plug wires and plugs. You will see a slight increase in power if your current set is in good condition. You will see a larger increase in power if your current set is in poor condition (or defective.)

Generally speaking, a good set of wires and plugs will make your car run smoother, more efficient, and with a little more power. However, don't expect to get a large boost unless you have a worn out set to begin with.

if you go with new coils you have to have a new driver,

i had this problem but in a reversed way

bought a MSD box and couldnt get it to work with the stock coils

just bought new coils and had to get a plug for the new coils and new wires, so in total i would have to say i spent 600$ on the ignition system alone

are you saying that we can't use the same plug wires from magnacor?
