help with dead engine please

Post by dirk »

i,m new here ,so hi :)

i recently brought a 97 nexia 1.5 16v

it needed a head off and reskim because of a water leak.

i had the head skimmed ,refitted it with a new gasket and as far as i know rebuilt it exactly as it came apart.i,m not new to engine builds but all before have been on 4 cylinder bikes.

problem is the car will not start.i have petrol up to the injectors and i have a spark.the engine is turning over nice and smooth with no odd noises.

i may have turned the crank one rotation whilst lining it up :( so to counter this i rebuilt the cams again 180 degrees out.but still no joy.

any ideas on where to start looking next ? as this fault has me stumped.

cheers dirk

are you sure that the sparkj pulg wires are int the right place, if there not, it woun't start as goodand check to see if the coil isn't bad, are the valves and everything in good shape. make sure the engine is grounded good, fuel pressure is right. does injectors work correctly, does pistons move, check if crankshaft is not broken.

hi

tnx for the replies. worked out the problem now

i had a mate come round who timed up the belt by eye.

turned out that my engine has 2 tdc marks on the casing.

all the timing info on the web tells you to use the bottom one.mine uses one at the front that cannot be seen from underneath.

anyway ,good to know that people took the effort to reply .tnx.
