ecu resetting

Post by PoTsUrFrIeNd »

other than just unhoking my battery, how do I tell my computer to relaern everyting such as idle and throttle position. I cleaned out my tb and iac agin to remedy my high idling problem and it seems to severely dull the problem but it still seems to creep in once in a while. I still have had no cel emitted at all and I am out of my factory warranty.

Also, after cleaning the parts mentioned above and after re-amping the sensors, the engine sat and revved from idle to about 1500 rpms for about a total of 2 minutes before leveling off, it hasn't done it since but I am still worried something is wrong.

This is in an aveo w/ a 1.6L by the way.

I'm pretty sure that the only way you can reset the ECU learning process is by unhooking the battery, then finishing the drain on the battery by hitting the brake lights for a few seconds. Leave it for about 5-10 minutes to make sure it's lost all of it's save data.

Then hook up the battery and run through the idle learn process for your Aveo.

I don't know what the specific learn process is for your Aveo though. So you'll need to find all the proper steps for that. Make sure you do the entire process and follow it to the letter when you do find out (turning the AC on and off and such as it requires). :)

The steps on idle learning seem to require a/c top be epuipped. How will it work without it. (i do not have a/c)

moin,

the a/c is not important for it. you have to activate it, because the a/c compressor "steal" the engine power. so the ECU have to regulate the mixture for more power.

so what do I do then, turn on the lights?? or turn the wheel all the way to the side (that seems to suck power)?

If you don't have AC then your idle learn process is really easy.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Press on the brake for about 10 seconds to drain the extra power that still might be in the system.
3. Connect the negative battery terminal.
4. Turn the ignition to "ON" but don't start it up and count off 5 seconds.
5. Turn the ignition to "OFF" and count off 5 seconds.
6. Turn the ignition to "ON" but don't start it up and count off 5 seconds.
7. Without turning it back to off, start the engine in neutral or park if it's an auto.
8. Let the engine idle until the temp gauge goes up to it's normal temp spot (about halfway).
9. Turn the engine off.

You're done with the idle learn process without AC. :)
