Coolant change?

I'm going to be changing the coolant on saterday and I need to know what can happened if I just put only coolant and no 50/50 mixture.

i think it is going to be too thick fluid and the heat transfer will suffer as well... you know pure water is the best coolant but you can't use just that as you will get into freezing and rust issues, the point is that the water is the essence of coolant not the ethylene glycol.
