read that on how to remove the cel.

as for performance... if you don't plan on having a resonator AND a muffler... don't do it (or use 2" pipe). if you pull the cats and then have a straight through design all the way to teh rear, you will have some sucktastic torque and won't regain the speed until higher in the rpm band... so i don't reccommend it.

HOWEVER

if you have a resonator, or you go with 2" pipe... you can have a NICE exhaust setup with good deep tone.

so it is recommendable to remove the resonator only and not the cat??

how will it sound if I remove the resonator and let my RS-R muffler stay?

will it be too loud for a auto trans??

removing the resonator is by far a better choice for opening the exhaust... plus it helps out on the whole killing mother nature thing

No resonator = "Welcome to Fartsville"

Removing the resonator gives very little gains, especially with straight thru design ones... Same with removing the cat, you can get straight thru ones that flow ALOT!

It'll sound like a ricebucket fart machine 8)

my car is resonatorless and sounds really nice... but it has the cats intact. that's what i meant. if you leave the cats, the resonator removal will be fine

i removed my CAT and kept everything else intact... gains are in the high RPM band and the sound is hardly any louder.

after doing that and CAI, 14" steel rims and shit load of tools in the trunk i am now noticing a bit of a loss in toruque but i don't know which factor to take the biggest share of the blame.
