Modifications for the A16DMS ( 1.6L DOHC )

Post by PrecisionBoost »

I wanted to see what modified engine parts you guys would like to see designed for the 1.6L DOHC motor....I'm starting to do some very early research on manufacturing and distribution costs.

The things I have come up with so far are:

Turbo kit ( turbo, turbo exhaust manifold, sensors, modified ECU, injectors, low compression pistons, intercooler )
Performance Radiator designed to allow for Turbo to fit
High performance ignition system
Exhaust headers for Naturally aspirated engines
Underdrive (or simply lighter) pully system
CAI Intake
Modified ECU (fuel maps, ignition maps)
Intake manifold
Throttle body
Injectors
fuel rail
fuel regulator
performance cylinder heads
forged connecting rods
forged pistons (various compression levels)
forged or billet crankshaft
Intake and Exhaust Cams
High performance copper head gasket

Can anyone think of anything else that should be added?

What would you consider to be reasonable prices for the above items?(please be honest as to what you think fair market value should be... If items are priced out too cheap then there is not much point in manufacturing them since there is no profit.)

As well I need to know about emissions requirements and laws in various states, provinces (and countries)

Well.. in the parts thing you only missed is the Adjustable cam pullys and high performance engine mounts...

in my country we dont have that "emissions" problem...

well sence i have been looking around at alot of this stuff heres my two cents for what they are worth
all in USD

turbo kit (basic) $1,400 (mid range) $2,000 (full) $3,500
your basic kit would probably run about 4-6 psi mid 7-9 full 10-14 (depending on what parts are availible)

radaitor i have not looked for $??

High performace ignition system, depends on what your looking for, like my msd box was only $409 shipped!! found a killer deal!! just gotta ask the right people

sence im building custom headers and the cost for materials is around 50$
i would have to say $200+

dont know about under drive pullies but i hear they go for $100-$220

full CAI $90 to $120 depending on the filter and materials

SRI $30

dont know about modified ECU, but cant be over $200 cause piggy back system isnt to much more

was looking for a Throttle body at one time, came acrost a really good one that the guy said he could make it fit the woo for around $500

injectors... there is to many to chose from already

fuel rail, havnt looked into it but see honda civic ones go for $120

fuel regulator, depending on what and how its made $80-$140

pro head... dont know

forged connecting rods, was looking at the ones for the maita... i think it was like $400 or something

pistons - $ regular size $560 20 over $610 40 over $640 that was the price i found for the maita also

the rest i dont know about!!!

tell me what you think, i could be wrong on some of the stuff, but i have been looking at so much i get confused sometimes..

I already said that you can use the nubira thottle for the lanos, a friend he in PR find that the sunbird 2.0 trottle looks exactly like the lanos and will try to use it this week. Let see if works.
