rev limiter

Post by woodae »

the other day i was with my friends and one guy has a jetta slammed with an intake, and the other guy has a civic with an intake. they are both standard and when the drive by they hit the rev limiter and holy crazyness, what a intense sound. Is there anyway to take the rev limiter out of an automatic lanos, 4000 is a soundless rev any way my father is an electronic wizz so if any one knows what makes it limit the revs in park or neutral do tell.

Don't remove the limiter, it is there for your own safety. There is always the off chance that you could accidently bump it into neutral and floor it, causing catastrophic damage. Besides, I believe that the rev limiter is part of the software and has to be programmed out, which is almost impossible without the ultra pricey Daewoo Programmer or Daewoo dealership.

+1

removing the limiter is dangerous, pricy and pointless.

I would say that you're better off buying a woo with a manual transmission if you want that effect.

legally? what! Because your missing an arm your not allowed, by law, to drive m/t?! Thats stupid... Im still young but have driven lots of miles.. and im sure i could pull off driving with one hand. Hell I eat all the time while shifting through corners. Im sure you could do better than me cuz you've learned how to use that arm better

Well, if engine damage poses no issue, then you have to go to the Daewoo Dealership to get your ECU reprogrammed to have a higher rev limiter. Considering that no dealership in the US would do such a thing because of the liability concerns (Danger of killing car; other people; self), the only other way to go is to buy one of the Daewoo programmers that can control the car's timing, shift points, rev limiter, etc. The problem with that is they run on Ebay (Once in a blue moon) for about $900-$1200 and at a dealership for about $2500. There may be other ways, but I have yet to find them.

I personally don't think it is worth it at all, $1000 just to get a different sound from your car is absurd. Put a $50 fart-can on your car and rev to 4000 RPM any time you want, it'll sound better and be much louder than just an intake.

Post by woodae »

it would havwe been easy to drive a car if it would have been my left hand that was paralyzed but it was my right. I can drive a standard better then most people but getting insurance would be a bitch i think i might go for the standard idea. Thank guys i hate the sound of fart cans intake sounds way better
