Ok so i got too anxious and didnt want to wait a week to buy an intake from ebay, so i went out to baxter and picked up a nice K&N filter for $50. its huuuuge and sounds soo good, it has a nice hollow whomping sound when you floor it.
I copied the idea from jonnys ghetto short ram, but instead i just connected the tube straight to the filter cause its so big, i clamped it down very tight and im gonna put some rubber cement or something around the edges just to be extra safe, but i dont notice any air leaking so it shouldnt be a problem. To help hold it in place i just wrapped some wire aruond the connecting part and hooked it through a conviently located hole. Maybe in the future i might buy some nice aluminum tubing and fabricate a real short ram, but for now this is just as good.
What car you got? You can usually find an 01-04 Civic (not Si) intake that will almost fit like it was designed for the Reno/Forenza/Optra, with little to no modification at all. If you have an R/F/O, then maybe look at the Civic intakes. I purchased one myself, but being winter, I have no desire to install it as yet.
Those K&N Filters are so good.
I did the same thing with my lanos cus the tube is so wide on the K&N filter.
But I stuck a bit of pvc pipe in the tube so when i clamped it, It wouldnt crush the pipe. So it would be completly sealed and properly sealed.
