Help!! Timing belt and head rebuild-no fuel afterwards
Just got a 00' Lanos hb with a 1.6 for free!!
Timing belt broke prior to me, and I got a basket case.
I had the head redone and replaced everything with the timing belt(tensioner, water pump, idler, belts, gaskets, valves) anyways, it is all back
together now, and I can't get the fuel pump to cycle. I don't know if I have spark, but I do know I do not have fuel. I have check fuses and relay, thumped the tank and pump (figuring maybe the pump temporarily
froze) engine does roll over with the starter.
I am thinking something needs to be reset, a friend had a Subaru that threw the t-belt and he had to have the dealer flash something in the computer.
Please help, as this has been a 3 month project that should have been a 3 day project. Car has 65,000 on the clock and is an auto.

well if you wanna just re-set your ECU then heres a link to a how to on here. http://www.daewootech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3063
if that doesn't work then i suggest to replace the fuel pump. other people will suggest more so just wait for them. oh by the way how many miles are on your woo?

you may want to find out if there is fuel pressure...
go to autozone, advance, etc and buy a fuel pressure gauge with a schrader valve (like a tire valve). there is a pressure check point on teh fuel rail where you can screw on the pressure valve and see if there is fuel pressure.
if it's above 40psi... you're golden.
and i guess theoretically, you could use any pressure gauge with that kind of valve attachment... but you'd have to be sure it was for liquid, not air.
also... when you turn the engine to on (but don't bump teh starter) can you hear the fuel pump running?

Fuel pump should go on for about 2 seconds when you turn the ingition on. If you have no fuel, you will need a multi-meter and check for the following
- check the fuel pump fuse and relay. If you hear the relay click, it does not always mean it is working
- remove the rear seat, undo the fuel pump cover, remove the fuel pump connector and check for voltage (you may need assistant for that)
If you still have no voltage at the fuel pump, you will have to trace the wire from the relay to the ECU. That wire itself should have the voltage for 2 seconds when you turn the ignition on, if not, ECU may either be damaged, may have poor ground, or may not know you are cranking the motor. Then, recheck the connectors to the crank sensor, and cam sensor.
Keep us posted.

2002 Lanos 1.5 SOHC... stock!!!
well I have checked over most things and this is what I have found
I found:
have power to pump(two wires of the six)
have breaker click
have power to fuel gauge sensor on top of tank
don't have
not showing fuel gauge movement(have full tank and is not reading at all)
not sure if when you turn the key on, if the guages are supposed to move
(temp or fuel) but they are not
the pump doesn't cycle
here are my thoughts
I need the color breakdown of the 6 wires on the pump(so I can jump them, prior to removing pump, to see if pump is bad)also the wires on the gauge sensor
I need to push it out of the garage and burn it(j/k)
and...
any help on what else it could be!!
Thanks for the help so far, this is a great forum!
btw a haynes manual sure would be nice for this car!

ok, I found out some stuff.
my lanos was in the shop a year ago for "engine rolls over, but will not start"
diagnosis, repaired wire to ecu from fuel pump
my question: can I get a wiring diagram somewhere?
this must be my problem, as it was taken into the dealer at 24000 miles with same complaint, dealer checked it and it ran fine
please help or I will sell for what I have invested.
Thanks
