When you let off the gas does it tend to die? Is the "Check engine light" on?

need more feedback on:

1- car/engine/tranny type.
2- kms/miles on the car.
3- ignition system serviced kms (spark plugs, spark plug wires, coil pack).
4- fuel system serviced kms (injectors, filter, pump).
5- air filter serviced kms.
6- engine mods list if available.
7- exact discription for the problem.
8- associated charactristics for the problem (when car hot, goes over 60 mph, turning left, A/C on,etc...)
9- CEL status (on, off, blinking) and prefferably the DTC code you got after the OBD scan in case the CEL is on/blinking.
10- any recent engine service done even if it is a very routine one.

I talked to her on MSN about her problem and it sounds to me like a problem in the charging system. When she turns her AC on the problem worsens and acts like the car wants to die on her. She said all the normal maintenance has been performed and also took it to an electrician. The electrician said everything was fine but I am skeptical. The way she made it sound is that, anytime a large amount of power was needed for the AC or the radio the car would weaken, but if she turns all the accessories off the car runs better but not perfect. I advised her to clean the battery terminals and I also told her the grounding of the charging system may be insufficient. CEL is not on and she had it scanned anyway and there was a bad TPC switch, which was replaced. Definately seems electrical to me. Back me up here.

first i thought the engine was lacking power due to the fact that the A/C compressor litrally kills the engine but if other "electrical" equipment cause that as well then it has nothing to do with engine power.

how old is her battry anyways? if it is2.5 years old then chances are it mught be dieing... also does the engine crank well during morning starts? can she crank the engine with the headlights on? those are the regular battry tests... if they fail then she needs a battry or she got wiring issues.

is the alternator in a good condition? if it is nt charging well the battry will run out of power and will look like a bad battry.

Still I think this is going to be either:
1. Dying Battery (buy new)
2. Bad grounding (check ground points or possibly even upgrade to a hyper-grounding kit)
3. Bad alternator (buy new)

i didn't see your previous reply... no idea how did that happen.

anyways if she did start the car with all that turned on then the battry is ok... it could be a ground wire that is not well connected so some times it is working fine and some other it is not... seen that on a Hyundai before and the owner spent 2 months trying to find out what is wrong with the car.

i say check all the ground wires on the car.

also make sure there is no corrosion on the battery connections, this is very common if people don't hook up after market amps properly. :)

I told her to do the Coke trick. Still didn't work.

well I had a similar problem a while ago, the car would lose power and sometimes it wouldn't start, it was just a loose connection to the negative terminal on the batterey, it seemed snug but I had to really tighten it for it to stop doing that.[/i]
