How much power out of a 2.0 N/A

Post by Brian5475E »

I'm gonna do the 2.0 swap into the aveo this winter. I know the 2l has more power. one spec I was looking at says 126 HP and the other says like 135 anyone know the true rating of the forenza 2.0 and how much power can I squeeze out of it in N/A form?

i think the 2.0 16 valve engine pumps out some 136 or 137 HP at the crank.

Depends on how deep your wallet wants to go...

the WTCC car has 270 hp and 197 ft/lbs of torque...

And thats with class restrictions.....an unrestricted full-race engine may pip 300hp. The reverse head XE's used to in the BTCC series. But your looking at a five figure sum for that kind of tune (or more).

Mandrel bend 2.5" stainless exhaust, long CAI, underdrive pulley, magnaflow muffler = 126hp at the wheels ( 101 whp stock )

That's roughly 150hp at the crank... supposedly 119hp stock.

A mild cam setup, adjustable fuel managment, adjustable spark management, grounding kit, high energy ignition coil, performance ignition wires, adjustable cam timing gears, 4-2-1 header, race cat, 2" or 2.25" mandrel exhaust, underdrive pulley, Cold air intake, lightened flywheel and a few tricks here and there should net you somewhere in the range of 160whp(190hp crank) to 180whp (215hp crank) if I were to guess.

If you went with some race spec cams you could make lots more power but the car wouldn't be very driveable (probably want to stall at idle)

To take advantage of the cams you would have to port the head and install some larger valves.... which can get costly.

That should be an interesting install.... I think your going to have to get constructive when it comes to making room for the turbo..... I have a feeling that the radiator might give you some problems.

Did you ever compare exact dimensions between the Aveo and Lanos?

I hate say it but the only car that is guaranteed to fit a 2.0L is the Lanos.... I don't know if the Aveo has ever been officially measured to see if it will fit without some modifications.

I'm guessing that it will fit..... but I don't know for sure.

I can't remember the difference between the length of the 1.6L and 2.0L blocks.... I'm guessing its around 2"

Do you have 2" of clearance between the 1.6L engine and the inside edge of the engine bay?

so is the 2.0 wider left to right or deeper front to back (the way it sits in the engine bay)?
