Post by lex86 »

Hey all, I'm new here as you'll see by my number of posts! :D.

I've read thru a fair bit and i was wondering what the easy diy stuff would be for my car?

Havent really done much atm, was too interested in car audio

But yeah, stuff i've looked at

1. http://www.daewootech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3356
2. http://www.daewootech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2597
3. http://www.daewootech.net/articles.htm

Thats about it really, the rest of the stuff i was looking at was just for fun and to gain some info.

Also, just in case you didnt all didnt get my other post about the espero/etc here's a url i havent seen listed here.

Also, cant remember who's car this is, but my engine looks pretty much the same.

http://www.users.on.net/~hoogs/daewoo/03.jpg

few differences tho..
  • my car is while
  • my sparkplug cables are black
  • i dont have that thing sitting to the left of the battery
apart from that my engine is stock, though i do have a 300W amp and a 800w 12" sub in the boot

I'm looking at doing the same thing eventually, so unfortunately I can't help too much, but if anyone can it's appreciated by me too ^_^

The thing to the left of my battery is the main thingy for the air-conditioning. Pity I'm out of gas and probably need new seals, etc. So bah.

Have a look @ http://www.daewootech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2597 for the tach install on the 1.5 SOHC. Looks like people have had varying results but it worked for me!

Hey all, tried mounting my tacho today, tried the 2 diode thing, my ecu doesnt have a white w/ grey rectangle wire to use  damnit.

i looked into taking out the instrument panel and tapping into the tacho wire (if there was one) but i couldnt get to behind the panel.

I removed the cover over the steering wheel, then the panel above that (houses the hazard lights/rear demister) and then the perspex case that covers the instruments, undid the bolts to the instrument panel and thats as far as i got, thing is tight as a ... yeah you fill that in 8).

Any hints as to variations in wire colour and tips to remove the instrument panel would be greatly appreciated.

Edit!

Did a bit of searching on the net, found this site

http://www.opelmoscow.ru/opelecu.htm

Kinda neat.

what is the *.bin file in the zip files on that site?? is it the maps of the ECU?? if so then could some genius translate that into an understandable form and maybe then we can mess with it and tune our ECUs??

Not too sure what it is, opened it in my hex editor, still reads like garbage, am translating the russian atm

Google translation doesnt do russian, but the Altavista translation did, english grammar may be crap, but you get the idea.

edit

ie - "You will visit site Scorpiona A!"

Another site

http://www.daewoo-faq.auto.ru/ has some interesting stuff on it, just translate it to english :P

Ah well, just blew my tacho up.

Went to a local auto-electrician and he found the wire that does the rpms, straight from the distributor and he reckoned that it didnt need any high voltage cable coz it wont be that high.

so anyway, got home and hooked me tacho up and attached the green wire then started the car. there was a flash from the tacho and the car shuddered and thent he tacho turned off and the car resumed idling.

now the tacho wont turn on, methinks its one of the zenir diodes... ah well, another project shelved.

on another note, also cruzed to a few wreckers to see if they had any parts.... no luck all civics (for the intake) were stripped and every turbo (even the partially damaged ones) were apparently gone within 10 mins of the car arriving.

*sigh* next project

Bah. I'm tempted to get a small tacho ($30-odd) and give it a go. If it don't work, well, so be it.

If it works, I'll let ya know.

You got a daewoo 1.5i?

if so on there is a wire near the coil, its on a bunch of 4 and its white, go to yer nearest autoelectrician and ask him if thats the correct wire for a tacho, should be :)

if not, check yer ecu and try the green w/ black stripe or 2x diodes into the brown, write w/ grey rectangular wires.

my ecu didnt have a white w/ grey wire at all so hence the distributor attack.

ah well, time to go to work and earn some spending money.

peace.

edit

If you look up at the pictures of my car, you can see the coil underneath the red power cable for my amp, the white wire is connected to that.

Peace agin.

The dude on ebay that i mentioned

"Well done, I am an ex Daewoo trainer, worked for Daewoo for five years.

Do not hesitate to drop me a line in case you need to.

Regards

Sergio"

Sent him the forums link, perhaps he'll share some knowledge for all of us :D
