Thats about it really, the rest of the stuff i was looking at was just for fun and to gain some info.
Also, just in case you didnt all didnt get my other post about the espero/etc here's a url i havent seen listed here. http://www.acdc-service.ru/espero.php
Short of trying each wire. Anyone know if there is a different colour wire to look for? the green w/ black doesnt exist

article on installing a tacho lol. ignore the other assorted bits n pieces lyin round :P
Any info?
Hey all, tried mounting my tacho today, tried the 2 diode thing, my ecu doesnt have a white w/ grey rectangle wire to use damnit.
i looked into taking out the instrument panel and tapping into the tacho wire (if there was one) but i couldnt get to behind the panel.
I removed the cover over the steering wheel, then the panel above that (houses the hazard lights/rear demister) and then the perspex case that covers the instruments, undid the bolts to the instrument panel and thats as far as i got, thing is tight as a ... yeah you fill that in .
Any hints as to variations in wire colour and tips to remove the instrument panel would be greatly appreciated.
Edit!
Did a bit of searching on the net, found this site
what is the *.bin file in the zip files on that site?? is it the maps of the ECU?? if so then could some genius translate that into an understandable form and maybe then we can mess with it and tune our ECUs??
Went to a local auto-electrician and he found the wire that does the rpms, straight from the distributor and he reckoned that it didnt need any high voltage cable coz it wont be that high.
so anyway, got home and hooked me tacho up and attached the green wire then started the car. there was a flash from the tacho and the car shuddered and thent he tacho turned off and the car resumed idling.
now the tacho wont turn on, methinks its one of the zenir diodes... ah well, another project shelved.
on another note, also cruzed to a few wreckers to see if they had any parts.... no luck all civics (for the intake) were stripped and every turbo (even the partially damaged ones) were apparently gone within 10 mins of the car arriving.
if so on there is a wire near the coil, its on a bunch of 4 and its white, go to yer nearest autoelectrician and ask him if thats the correct wire for a tacho, should be
if not, check yer ecu and try the green w/ black stripe or 2x diodes into the brown, write w/ grey rectangular wires.
my ecu didnt have a white w/ grey wire at all so hence the distributor attack.
ah well, time to go to work and earn some spending money.
peace.
edit
If you look up at the pictures of my car, you can see the coil underneath the red power cable for my amp, the white wire is connected to that.
