Another Edmontonian joins the group!!!!
Ok.... it is possible to decrease the compression with a thicker gasket but it will throw off the cam gears slightly.
This may not be a big deal but ideally adjustable cam gears should be used.
And yes..... you are whipped :P
The car parts are cheap.... replacing the engine would cost you a thousand bucks.... which is less than the price of a new GT28RS turbo!!!
You should meet up with me and Tom (360 Dynamics) and we will talk you into heavily modifying your car.
We both work at Apex Modified ( tuning shop on 99St a block south 34 Ave ) when we get time.
I personally haven't been there for a few months because I've been busy with my business and we are moving into a new place and renovating.
Apex has a DynoJet 248X which is arguably the best/most accurate dyno in the world.
I have an Optra 5 that is in the midst of being turbocharged.
Tom has an Astra MKII GSI turbo replica based upon a Pontiac Lemans chassis.
All three of our vehicles are Daewoo products and all three come with the 1.6L depending on what part of the world your in.
Your car the Daewoo Kalos usually comes with a 1.4L in most of the world but in North America it recieved the 1.6L DOHC just like the Lanos.
In other parts of the world my Optra 5 is a Daewoo Lacetti and it comes with the exact engine sitting in your Pontiac Wave.
The Lemans/Astra came with both the 1.6L SOHC and 2.0L SOHC in North america.
