Matiz engine management

Post by fred warwik »

Good morning, i am new to the group.

my daughter has a 2001 Matiz and the engine management light came on but the car seemed to be running fine. I
checked everything I could and cleaned the rather dirty looking Lambda
sensor. The light stayed on.

I paid a local garage ( :( Daewoo main dealer 1.5 hour drive away) ?40 for an anaylisis which said "undiagnosed fault" The
mechanic said he thaought it might be the EGR valve. He turned the light
off which then stayed off. I also then cleaned out the EGR valve but
suspected that the dirty sensor had been the problem.

Unfortunately the light has come back on after about 200 miles but the car
seems to be running OK still..

My problem is that it seems my only options are to replace an expensive
component, pay ?40 to have the light turned off and if it comes on again go
through the same process etc etc.

Any ideas before I apply to the World Bank for a finance package?

Regards

Fred

why the hell do OBD scans cost that much?? in here it only costs 20 LE (3.45 USD) to get the car scanned.

anyways i recommend you get the car scand so you get the code... i don't buy what the guys told you about undiagnosed fault crap... if a CEL is on then you got a code thats for sure.

i am not sure if it is the lambda sensor or EGR valve that is causing the problem... no one will know till you get a valid fault code so get it scanned and by all means got to some one else other than thos stupid MOFO you used before.

i do agree with mmamdouh. 40 pounds is ridiculus. hell at that price you can just buy a obd reader and do it for free and charge people for it too. :D as for a CEL without a code has happened to me. i checked it twice but nothing. and my car runs fine too.
