ok... started dismantling the woo to change the timing belt.. and already it has put a brick wall in my path... how do you remove that big power steering polley that is for the altenator?? all my plastics are free.. just that damn thing is not letting the plastic sheild off

I had this problem too. You need to remove the power steering pully if I remember correctly. For some unknown reason they snaked that plastic up and under the pully so that it's impossible to remove.

yes Shaun you are right... even on my 1.5 SOHC you have to remove the pully to do the job.

for WooHoo: try to replace the water pump along with the timing belt job... or at least ceck it very well as the water pump replacment will require the same amount of work you are doing right now.

needless to say you have to replace the tensioner and maybe the idlier pullies too... if those fail they will cause the same amount of damage as a snapping timing belt.
