Removing the Throttle Body and Intake Manifold for Cleaning

I read in another post that the possible cause for rough idling may be a dirty TB and IM. Is there a specific procedure in removing these? Also, after doing so, I would also like to inspect my vaccum hoses. Is there a diagram displaying the location of these hoses?

I have a 2002 Daewoo Lanos HB, with almost 47,000 miles.

couldn't find the post so i made this from scratch:

1- Take off the ITS in the middle of the tube between the air box and the TB, pop the metal fastener then pull the plug.

2- Remove the breather hose from the tube between the air box and the TB, relocate the metal clamp and pull the breather hose.

3- Take off the rubber tube between the air box and the TB, it is fastened by two metal clamps

4- Remove the vacuum line from the TB.

5- Remove the fuel line from the TB.

6- Remove the gas pedal control wire, tilt the plastic reel all the way to the left then unhook the wire from its guide.

7- Remove the socket of the TPS.

8- Remove the socket of the Idling speed sensor.

9- Remove the TPS, it is mounted by 2 Philips screws.

10- Remove the idling speed sensor, it is mounted by 2 Philips screws

11- Take off the cap of the coolant reservoir MAKE SURE THE ENGINE IS COLD ENOUGH BEFORE YOU DO THAT.

12- Remove the two coolant hoses on the bottom of the TB (TB heater hoses), relocate the metal clamp then remove the hose. Coolant will drip so make sure you have some coolant to refill your system.

13- Take off the two 12 mm bolts at the top right and bottom left of the TB then remove the TB away from the intake manifold.

14- Make sure you don?t lose the TB gasket

15- Use WD 40 and an old toothbrush to scrub and clean all the dirt
residues in the TB?s passages and ports.

16- Use WD 40 to clean the tip of the idling speed sensor.

17- Use gas to wash the TB from the remaining WD 40 then dry it with a perfectly clean rag.

18- Use a perfectly clean rag to remove the residues of the WD 40 from the idling speed sensor.

19- Put back the TB on the intake and fasten the two 12 mm bolts, DON?T FORGET THE GASKET.

20- Put the coolant hoses back on the TB, if you want to by pass the heater then take off the right hose ? the short one ? and then mount the left one ? attached to the reservoir ? to where you just took off the short hose (on the main coolant pipe).

21- Put back the TPS sensor back and put its socket on, watch out to the contact point between the sensor and the butterfly axel.

22- Put back the idling speed sensor and its socket, put a drop of power steering fluid on the tip of the idling speed sensor before you put it back (I don?t know the reason behind that but that?s what my mechanic does).

23- Put the vacuum line and the fuel line back on, the fuel line goes into the large nasal.

24- Put the gas pedal control wire back.

25- Reattach the rubber tube between the air box and the TB.

26- Put back the breather hose on the rubber tube between the air box and the TB.

27- Put back the ITS sensor on the middle of the rubber tube between the air box and the TB.

28- Refill the coolant to the MAX mark then secure the cap.

29- Turn the ignition key on for five seconds then back of for three consecutive times; this is to let the ECU remap the sensors.

30- Turn on the engine and watch out for any sounds, leaks, sputtering or any unusual behavior

31- Take the car for a ride to make sure every thing is OK.
