ECU vs PCM

Post by MMamdouh »

what is the difference between the ECU and PCM?

is the PCM an ECU that also controls auto tranny??

the reason i am asking this is that i came across some ECU pics and
some of them got 2 sockets and others got 3 yet they manage the same
1.6 16 valves daewoo engine. i suppose the 3 socket ECU is actually
a PCM but i am not sure.

what do you think guys?? anybody got his or her ECU out and can tell
me how many sockets it got and what type of tranny you have?

Hmmm... this is supporting my theory, the 2 socket ECU is for the 1.5 8 valve SOHC while the 3 socket ECU is for the 1.6 16 valves DOHC.

any body got a 1.5 SOHC that can confirm my theory here??

depends on what you have I think all GMDaewoo vehicles in 2002 or 2003 went to the delphi ecu which has two connections, and it is located under the hood
