engine sounds like it is spluttering??

hi . my car has been starting to lose power when accelerating and ive oput my foot down a bit more to make up for it , and its made a spluttering noise, it feels like the car is holding back, could this be my fuel filter or spark plugs?

could be either, or other things, like bad wires, coil, etc. Always go with the easiest things first. The fuel filter is an easy change. when was the last time it was done? Same thing with the plugs and wires, relatively easy and cheap. try those first, and if it fixes it great, if not you can keep checking other things.
