Water leak from somewhere?

Post by SuperDuperDaewoo »

My car has started this water leak (drip) form somewhere. I have been unable to find the location of the leak.
Now I know that some vehicle have some type of condesation that builds up fromthe air conditioner. But this drip is producing puddles due to excessive dripping.

What you all of you think the souce of the problems is? What could go wrong by not getting it fixed immediately?

The drip is coming from the engine bay.

wich side of engine bay? left? right? middle?
if it commes middle and it is clear water then its the AC you should look in the middle of the engine comparment against the plate that form the inside theer should be a little black plastic tube comming out wich is squized... pull it off and check if it ist clogged up... cuase it tends to do that then

Is the puddle just water or is there antifreeze in it?

Use a white paper towel or white cloth to check if it looks green/yellow.

If the water is just clear water, then it is from your air conditioner.

If the water is green/yellow coloured, then it is coolant and you need to investigate to find exactly where it is coming from.

I found the location of the leak, it is in the center of the engine compartment, next to the firewall. It is water. What do I do now?

unless you are running water as means of cooling your engine (which is very much NOT recommended), its just water from the AC. If you look at the bottom of your home fridge, you will find a catch tank, which traps the water thus preventing it from making your floor wet. Your Lanos does not have anything like that, and this is perfectly normal in vehicles with AC, especially in very hot weather.

Remember, the amount of water the air conditioner produces corrosponds with how high the humidity is in the air.

On very humid days, there will be a lot more water.

An air conditioner not only makes the air cold, it removes moisture from the air, which will dry you off if you sweat or if you get into your car out of the rain. If it is cold outisde, and you get into your car out of the rain, you can turn on the air conditioning and the heat at the same time. This will not make the car cold inisde, but it will dry you off.

Water only from your car is normal.
If there is coolant leaking, that is not.
