Opinions on this....
A local dealer has a really nice Daewoo Lanos.
Stock Number: H10411M Year: 2001
Make: Daewoo Model: Lanos Sport
Type: Hatchback Color: Red
Mileage: 36065 Status: For Sale
Equipment: 5 Speed, AC, CD, Leather
the only downside is they want $5875.
If they drop to $3000 i'll hand them the cash on the way out... other wise i'll have to trade my lanos in.
I wanna get this and tune it as i go, but if they can't go less than 3500, i have to trade mine in.
Any opinions?
it has the automatic everythign so... yea i like it!

hey oz, long time no chat.
I can live without a second lanos. It's mainly i'm tired of the base package and just want to upgrade. There's really no reason to modify mine. Its' a base packaged S (no options)...
So the added features are nice.
And it's more or less something i can put money into and make it look nice and run swell. I grew up driving standards and i hate auto's. But money and options weren't there when i had to get a car.
So it's down to this lanos. I've also been looking at a '00 Kia Spectra
same options.
So can i live without it, yes. But would i rather have it than sit on the money knowing there's a perfect opportunity sitting on my doorstep.. i don't know.
BTW whats the big deal of a timing belt?

The stock Daewoo timing belts have had a lot of problems lasting as long as they are supposed to. Many are breaking as early as 55,000 miles and many are not lasting to the 70,000 miles as they should.
Just to be safe, I reccomend the stock timing belt be changed around 50,000 miles. Yes, that is rather low milage, but I'd rather have the assurance knowing I had a good, new belt than worry about destroying the engine by keeping the stock belt on past 60,000 miles.
The belt I ordered from www.gm-car-parts.com was printed on that said Made In Germany, but the plastic bag it came in had a sticker that said Made In Australia! LOL
Again, preventative maintenance is a lot less expensive than rebuilding or replacing the engine.

they have it posted as $5875... they dropped to $4850... i'm hoping they sweat it out till i have a lil more money. But
I don't think anyone will buy it... i just think it's a little steep for a bankrupt car. I Love my lanos, but i want this one's features... i payed $4000 like i said before daewoo went bankrupt it only had 17777 miles. This one had 36k and they want 1875 more? Odd..

What about the taillights? I thought those are different as well...WooHoo wrote:the only thing that is different in the sport model then my lanos is the door pannels and the stock leather seats,
i paid $3,800 and my car had 30k miles but that was along time ago
Also, the sideskirts + front and back bumpers (stock body kit)
