hi i have my nubira on the road now. first of all my engine managment seems to be playin tricks like slow to return to idle while changing gears. and sitting at 1100 rpms while rolling out of gear then finaly returning to 850rpms once the car has pulled to a stop. what should i be looking at to rectify this it doesnt seem to bad but just a lil odd.
second is the power seems faded at times i know its a 1.6 and is a bit underpowered for the size of the car but it seems like its starving sometimes. i had an injector go on me a few days ago it got stuck open and was flooding the number1 piston in turn it soaked my cat converter with fuel and was blowing smoke for like 10 ks when i got it fixed quiet scary acctually thought the motor went. do injectors go in these often as i have never had this happen before.
now a question bout oil i used 20w50 after the head was done it seems to be using this like crazy i have done 1500kms since rebuild and it has used half its capacity. not blowing any smoke though what grade should i use btw its Castrol gtx2 im using is this bad? other than poor engine management everything else seems good cheers..

Hi,
-The slow idle return is specific to this engine management. Mine will return to 850rpm only below 20km/h (12mph).
Nothing to do.
-Lack of power:
Cat may be clogged from fuel contamination. Try with another one or a simple tube (may be not legal).
You may have lost compression due to fuel washed piston/rings/cylinder. Record compressions.
-Oil consumption:
If no blue smoke (not any??) look for leaks. Look and "read" your spark plug electrodes.
You should use good quality recommended oil grade: 5W30.

i have noticed that the engine management will keep idle speed a bit high if you started driving if the car when the engine is not fully warm and will not adjust the idle speed to be 850 RPM unless the car is at a complete halt
as for injectors... i always use BOSCH injector instead of the GM ones

hey again, so my engine management is obviously working ok allthough at night it takes a lil while longer to return to idle after the engine is started anyone else experiencing this?
other wise as described...
the car seems to be getting air in the fuel. that is the way it feels when it plays up anyways. it also makes weird sounds sometimes when i prime the veichle b4 start you know the lil bzzzzt b4 u crank it over like popping sounds. i pulled the pump out to rectify the guage problem. perhaps i have cracked it or somthing again anyhelp would be great.
ok im gonna go on bout the car now its great chews verry little gas hasnt used any coolant has used some oil though i suspect im using an inferior grade for my engine. car handles like its on rails im starting to here a lil bang on hard turn somtimes and shakyness through steering wheel on rough surfaces this wasnt there before have i broken somthing or has it loosened up? and engine can sound grumpy at times though i have heard its a daewoo dohc trait look forward to some feedback cheers
