Battery keeps going dead.
And I did find out why. The belt isn't turning because the serpentine belt tensioner has come unhooked, (spring broke I guess). What is the best method for taking it off? I can see a bolt head on the top, is there another one elsewhere? It would seem as though there should be 2 of them somewhere. Please help, Thanx.

I'm not sure. The day that I looked at it, it was snowing to beat the band here in Maine and I couldn't get a good look. I think I'll need to take the air filter box off to really get to it. Ever since this storm went through its been real cold and I don't have any way to get it under cover, so I'll wait until the weather is warmer. In the meantime, I've ordered the part so I'll be ready when I do get good weather again. I was just wondering if anyone here had ever taken one of these off. I probably should mention that the car is a 2004 Chevy Aveo with a 1.6Liter engine. I'm told it is a Daewoo motor.

Technically it was made by GM-DAT ( GM / Daewoo ) in Korea..... as was your entire car... which is a Daewoo Kalos.aveo owner wrote:I'm told it is a Daewoo motor.
But.... the basic engine is actually designed by Lotus/Opel and has been used all over the world for more than 20 years.
The engine comes in many flavors... some low compression 8V low power versions.... some 16V high compression....and some factory turbocharged. ( see Corsa VXR )
So... don't think of it as a bad thing.... those engines are made in many different plants.... it just so happens your's came from a Korean engine plant.
