New Member with a 1.6 nubira

Post by nubira88 »

Hey all i have just bought a 98 nubira with a 1.6 Etech engine in it for $400 AU, With 4 new tyres what a bargain................. but it had a snapped cambelt :( and after reading everyones threads on dreaded bent valves i just had to rip the head off and see an yes all my zuast valves were bent :( the previous owners near new water pump seized and sheered the new Tbelt Now just wonder how many issues i may have with my nubira im getting a second hand head as the blocks in the cars is a verry good design where as the head is not my cylinders have faired well after the crash lol. the reason i say this is i have has many cars with the family II engine a few being the aussie holden camira great 2.0 single over head cam engine producing 85kw with sohc and ancient mpefi..... exact same as Espero if anyone knows what they are havent seen them mentioned its no wonder it may be ugly but daewoo got the mechanicals right. i think the cielo had that same engine design in 1498cc.. but i wont rattle lol. love my new car just wondering if all the timing marks are going to line up nicely i was planning on tensioning the belt with the pump after its all lined up and PLASTIC cover is back on an pump in place then allen keying it up sounds simple but nothing ever is lol so im asking. oh and your engine blocks where made here in australia... your cylinder heads were not. looking forward to some good discusion cheers fellas

Hi welcome,
just wondering if all the timing marks are going to line up nicely
They MUST line up. By getting a first quality belt lining up "should" be nice ;) .
If you haven't it yet doawnload the service manual from the FAQ section: http://www.daewootech.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=21 .
