Temp gauge.. 2002 Lanos

Post by BSeward »

Anyone have a problem with the water temp gauge acting odd? I'm driving along, the needle is right about at the midpoint, when it will drop a bit, and come back up to normal. Almost like the fan was overcooling it a bit - although the fan isn't coming on...

On rare occasion, the gauge drops to the bottom, then comes up to normal.
I have a new Bosch waterpump, installed with the timing belt change, and the coolant level is not dropping at all.
Car shows no sign of overheating, either.... No CEL codes.

I'm thinking a bad meter, or loose connection in the dashboard. Ahy suggestions?

I have experienced similar problem with my Lanos - turned out to be poor connection to the sensor in the block. Check the connector and replace, if required (mine was badly oxidated and some sand paper fixed the problem).
