How does this help us Lanos owners again?

Many of the parts on the Astras are interchangable with the lanos. You could sort of say the Astra is a first gen Lanos.....sort of. :)

Lanos was based on the Vauxhall Astra Mk2/Opel Kadett E - that why the parts are interchangable (suspension & steering) + drivertrain

That is VERY interesting. So are you saying the 2.0 16v Kadett engine, AND the 2.0 8V OHC Turbo from the Sunbird would be direct fit, driveline and all, into the Lanos???

Yes, there are people who have done a Sunbird 2.0L turbo swap into their Lanos. The ECU has to be changed, too.

Pontiac

They are the older Sunbirds, late 80s early 90's, I believe, but do a little research, as I may have the years wrong.

AcingTeam,
How close to Hartford are you?
We bought 3 Lanos' from there. Found them on Yahoo Autos and drove 12 hrs each way to pick them up.
It was in the spring when all the trees were coming into leaf and it was an exceedingly enjoyable drive.
The worst part was driving up & back down I-95 through NYC. Yikes ... I hope I don't have to make a trip through there again!

I'm swaping the bird engine in my woo. And after Erfinder bought is new car I think I might be the only one who is still doing it  . You can even keep yuor original tranny but you need the 2L pressure plate and clutch. As for the ECM you need all the wiring that go with it to. i bought a complete sunbird turbo to be sure I won't miss a thing. Everything is now ready just waiting to have the time to do it. All the engine have been rebuilt. Head have been ported and polished. Thanks to GSI Turbo and Erfinder for all there help I keep you inform. It might be in by the end of august.

Nice, that's the 16v normally aspirated engine? That's the swap I'd probably be doing, I'm interesting in building a Lanos rally car by just swapping all the homologated parts from a Kadett E. Going to have to poke around and see if I can find a cheap Lanos with a blown engine to start hacking on :D

I'm about 1.5 hours away from Hartford. I bought my Lanos from a dealer up in Winsted (about half an hour away from Hartford). I-95 through NYC.... that sucks.... the road is all messed up there, and the signs are screwed up, and there's always traffic there..... ewww.
