quick question about engine

Post by sheepdizildawg »

the other day my engine was fine, and now since yesterday, it has lost power, when I step on the gas pedal it sounds like its trying to go up a hill, I am guessing either dead spark plug or a F*ed cylinder.. any thoughts?

i say do a tune up. plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, run some injector cleaner through it. see what happens after that. dont just assume what is wrong till you know

Probably not getting enough fuel, if it sounds like it's bogging down under WOT.

TPS or Ignition Coil. Coils tend to go overnight. They rarely die while driving.

just checked spark, all have spark to them.. I read somewhere that the cat might have collapsed and that might cause it.

...Your cat won't collapse, trust me. Is the car throwing a CEL? Sounds like an electrical/sensor issue to me.

just got back from autozone

this is what came up from scanning

P0420

The PCM has determined that the catalyst system efficiency for bank 1 is below threshold for the current engine operating conditions. (Bank 1 identifies the location of cylinder #1, while bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the opposite bank)

Definition
Catalyst efficiency low-bank 1

Explanation
The oxygen sensors monitor the catalytic converters ability to store oxygen

Probable Causes
1- Catalytic converter defective (Failure possibly due to #2, 3 or 4)
2- Engine misfire or running condition
3- Large vacuum leak
4- Engine oil leakage into exhaust-valve guide seals, piston rings

Ok well I dont have smoke so its not number 4, and my engine isnt miss firing as far as I can tell

and the other code they found was

P1627
module supply out of range

OEM Brand: General_Motors

definition
Analog to digital (A/D) performance

Explanation
The ECM has detected a fault in the A/D converter within the ECM
Probable cause
Failed ECM

hope my ECM isnt F*ed

any thoughts?
