Holden Viva Help

Post by Electricalpoo »

Hey there

I have a Australian Holden Viva 05 and the engine number is apparently F18D3 ??
(it is said to be a re badged Daewoo lacetti)

I have been looking for modifications for the car.

Can anyone help confirm the engine number and let me know anything else about engine mods.

Cheers

I have been looking for the same information for weeks on end... i want to end my life.

If anyone has the information on this 1.8L engine, where it is from, if it is just the same as the 1.6 with a little extra displacement etc... Is it from another car company? like Suzuki or something? We need this information so we can start getting parts for our cars.

I'm looking to do a custom turbo setup or even supercharger setup. but don't know what flanges to use or if there is even tuning/fuel management equipment out there for the engine.

Thanks in advance,

the holden viva is a re-badged daewoo lacetti, chevy lacetti or suzuki reno.

no doubt the engine code would be the same as it is in all of those.

heres the wild thing, it's 80.5 bore and 88.2 stroke

I've ben looking for my X18XE1 (new mid-size engine) specs to see if thats the one but been a bit busy. if the the engine code is truely F18D3 than that's a new one to use, tho the code looks more like one for the tranny.

pics would be handy.

Garrett

edit... is this what your motor looks like?

Cheers for the Help Garrett, i will get photoes up as soon as i can. The engine certainly looks similar.

So are there any product mods i can look into now that i have the bore and stroke? Or is it all custom work from here?

No that is not the same engine, well not the same head anyway. The radiator supply line to the head enters from the front of the car in that picture, on our Australian motor it joins the head from the right side of the motor above the tranny. The code that we originally posted as the engine code was taken from a shaved part on the front of the block where it meets the tranny. Where else do you look for an engine code? I searched the block and could not find any other numbers.

I too believe it is a stroked 1.6L but cant be certain. I will try contact Daewoo themselves and see what they have to say, but the engine in the Daewoo series is not the same as what is in the Holden Viva anyway so that wont help much unless it is a stroked 1.6L...

Well thanks for your help. Keep searching guys thanks.

OK i have found some information out from a Daewoo mechanic who told me that:

The engine is exactly 1,796 cc 1.8 liters, an in-line 4 engine with 80.5 mm bore, 88.2 mm stroke, 9.7 compression ratio, double overhead cam and four valves per cylinder... This information helps quite a bit, but he did not know exactly what engine it was just that it was built in Korea... So is this the same as the 1.6L? is the 1.6L built in korea?

Thanks...

Well if the compression ratio is 9.7, then it'll be in the S bracket.

So, w18sex

[Where both w and x arent known yet.. jsut so happened that it was in the s bracket, and is fuel injected, so fell under e aswell. Actually, it didnt just happen, I had x and y changed it to w and x for comical effect :P I dont know the emissions code for these new motors, so that'll be an easy one to figure out, then after that its just down to specific models.]

I know the spot you are talking about where the F18D3 would have been engraved, that's exactly the number you would be after. .... :? is this a petrol or diesel motor? the "D" it reminding me of the X22DTI from some of the Opel and Vauxhall chassis.

I've got a Daewoo Lacetti here down under that I understand is identical to the Holden Viva. Same 1.8 litre engine. Here are some pictures of my engine that I hope will help.
I'll let you guys figure out what is not exactly stock there :)
