Oil pressure light
Need help: My 2006 Aveos Pressure sensor light flashes on. Now heres the story:
We are turboing my little beast and we had to fool with the oil pressure sensor to make it fit to some fittings and such. Long story short, we ended up having to take a torch to it to free it from the fittings. Well the heat I think compromised the plastic part of the sensor and was causing it to leak oil when the vehicle is on. This weekend i pulled the sensor to jb weld where the plastic meets the metal on the sensor in an attempt to seal it up. It sealed fine around the base and no longer leaks from where the metal and plastic meet. Now it leaks from where the electrical wire plugs into the sensor. Ok, that really sux but the leak is only about half of what it was so its better anyways, not fixed but better. So I was gonna head off to the store to get some food and when I put it in gear and started backing out of the driveway, the Oil Pressure warning light started flickering. I put the clutch in and it stopped. I put the car into first and started to roll and as I gave it gas the light started flickering again, so i turned the car off and then turned it back on. I started to pull back into the driveway and it kept flickering. Previous to this I added oil to the car so I know its not low as it was reading halfway between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick. Can anyone offer some advice here? Please and thank you.

the guage will hook in to the oil system, even if it is a electronic guage it will have a sensor, but i can tell you that its not gonna use the oem one it will have its own. why didnt you just get an oil filter sandwich adaptor? that will give you all of the oil feed lines you will ever need? some thing like this
http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/index.as ... ProdID=200
that might not be the exact one you need, you have to match the size and threads on the adaptor to the ones on your block and filter.

Ok, new problem
I got the new oil pressure sensor from the dealership, and I installed it. After I installed it, I started the car and let it run for 5 minutes. When it first started it was a little hesitant like it was "stumbling and stuttering" but it quickly smoothed out. After letting it run for 5 minutes I pulled out of the driveway and drove around the block a few times and it ran good as new. YAY, no leaks and it runs! I was uber excited! So i parked it and went to go get ready for work. When I went to leave for work, it started up normal (it only sat for 30 minutes) and I started to go about my merry way. I had just got out of the driveway and as I was about to put it in first it happened. The oil light started flickering again. WTF! I put it in first and started driving and it went away as soon as I gave the car gas. Whew, ok, maybe its just a false alarm. I got to the stopsign at the end of my block and came to a complete stop. Then it came on again...WTF? I revved it, and it went off but as soon as the revs came down and it was idling, it came back on. I decided to see if I could at least get it down the street a few blocks w/out it coming on. I drove it and as I was driving, it never came on but as soon as I stopped, it would start flickering again. So, now the problem of the light comin on while driving is gone, but now it comes on at idle. Also, I stopped at a gas station to get a pop and when I came back and started the car after it had been sitting for about 5 minutes, the light didnt come on right away. Only after I revved it a little bit did it start flashing again at idle. Im so confused. The only thing I can think of right now is, when the old sensor was leakin, the last place it leaked from was where the wire adapter piece plugged into the sensor. Is it possible the oil in the connector is maybe screwing up the connection? I wouldnt think it would hurt it, but then again, Im not a mechanic either. Please help!
Also, Im working on getting a oil pressure guage.

Im pretty sure i do. I must admit an embarrassing oops. The other day while I was trying to repair the old sensor with JB weld, I was also working on the AC as a wire is broke and I dont have AC. So as i was trying to test the AC I would go and turn my car to the almost on position (you know, where the cars ecu comes on and fuel pump and such.) Anyways, I couldnt tell if the AC was workin or not. So I was talkin on the phone and not paying attention and thought maybe if i turn the car on... (The oil pressure sensor was on the kitchen table, meaning, there is a open hole on the block for oil to surge thru). I started it and within seconds I was like "UGH U IDIOT!" And I immediatley turned the car. It was too late though, there was oil everywhere. I was like AAAACCCCKKKK (insert many swear words here)! So I took the gfs Cavalier to the store and bought 5.5 qts of oil and added 2 qts. Waited about an hour, checked dipstick, it was close to the MIN line so I added another qt. Waited, and checked and it was back in the middle. And that was the bitchinest mess I have ever had to clean up. There was oil everywhere. All over the bottom of my car, the insides of the wheels, and the driveway-omg the driveway was smeared with oil. I was kickin myself in the ass and walking with my tail between my legs all afternoon because I knew that was absolutely the dumbest thing I could have done.
But, on the bright side, AC works.

yeah... thats about right... and not enough to suspect oil pump or crank bearings unless you ran the engine ith no oil or so

...I don't think it could have suffered any permanent damage being on for only a few seconds. Anything longer than maybe 15 seconds of no oil pressure could have created problems and caused the oil pump to fail.
DOUBLE check to make sure that you have all the oil you need. If it is low, the pump could be pulling air from the sump and dropping the pressure.
If that doesn't solve it, don't drive it too much until you get it figured out.
